Goals of the Laser Safety Office (LSO, RSL) Training

Appropriate training for those who should be responsible for safety in the use of laser systems (the Laser Safety Officer defined in the technical report IEC-TR 60825-14; in Spanish "Responsable de Seguridad Láser - RSL").

This advanced training course in laser safety and protection delves into the technical aspects of risk assessment and also covers legal and administrative aspects of security under the prism of the applicable legislation in the European Union and in particular in the Spanish state

Technicians responsible for maintenance, production engineering, designers of laser products or systems or occupational risk prevention.
En general those responsible for the safety in the use of laser systems.

Article 8 of the Spanish Royal Decree 486/2010 and technical report IEC-TR60825-14 (Chapter 3) from the International Electrotechnical Commission specify that organizations using laser systems of Class 3R (invisible), Class 3B or Class 4 should appoint a laser safety officer (LSO) with sufficient technical knowledge.

The syllabus of the Laser Safety Officer (LSO) training course includes the following topics:

• Laser (production, characterization and propagation)
• Classification, accessible exposure limit
• Accidental ocular exposure, reflections, secondary beams and laser safety products
• Dangers of laser radiation
• Fiber optic communication systems
• Accidents (statistics and main causes)
• Legislation and regulations
• Laser risk assessment
• Management of laser safety
• Administration of laser safety
• Laser safety products
• Exposure and maximum permissible exposure
• Safety glasses

The development of the course syllabus will be based on Royal Decree 486/2010 and standards EN 60825-1, EN-207, EN-208 and others.

Certificate for students who have attended the complete advanced laser safety and protection - LSO training course and passed the test.

Course in Virtual Classroom: Sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday.
