Goals of the course

Appropriate training for those who should be responsible for safety in the use of laser systems (the Laser Safety Officer defined in the technical report IEC-TR 60825-14).

This course delves into the technical aspects of risk assessment and also covers legal and administrative aspects of security under the prism of the applicable legislation in the European Union and in particular in the Spanish state

Technicians responsible for maintenance, production engineering or occupational risk prevention.

It is recommended that the company have one or two people with this training.

The syllabus of the course includes the following topics:

  • Electromagnetic spectrum, optical radiation and light
  • Laser (production, characterization and propagation)
  • Classification, accessible exposure limit
  • Accidental ocular exposure, reflections, secondary beams and laser safety products
  • Dangers of laser radiation
  • Fiber optic communication systems
  • Accidents (statistics and main causes)
  • Legislation and regulations
  • Laser risk assessment
  • Management of laser safety
  • Administration of laser safety
  • Laser safety products
  • Exposure and maximum permissible exposure
  • Safety glasses

The development of the course syllabus will be based on Royal Decree 486/2010 and standards EN 60825-1, EN-207, EN-208 and others.

Proof of comprehension of the contents at the end of the course.

Certificate for students who have attended the complete course and passed the test.

Course in Virtual Classroom: Sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday.
