Awareness about safety against laser and intense light with particular emphasis where high power lasers are used with handheld application devices.
The protection and safety restrictions in such applications, such as manual laser welding or manually applied laser cleaning, present considerations that recommend special treatment. At ProCareLight we have developed a basic laser safety training course specifically for these activities.
Operators, workers and users of laser systems of classes 3R, 3B or 4 or sources of intense light. Also people who work near those systems.
No specific prior knowledge is required.
Although the primary and growing application is manual laser welding, other applications of hand-held gun-operated lasers and similar hand-held lasers are also covered in the course. Laser cleaning would be the second relevant application.
Article 8 of the Spanish Royal Decree 486/2010 and technical report IEC-TR60825-14 (Chapter 3) from the International Electrotechnical Commission specify that all employees using laser and light emitting systems should receive laser safety and protection training.

The basic laser safety and protection training course covers the Basic principles of light and lasers, similar to the Basic Course but expanding the training and examples in manual laser welding or similar as laser cleaning.
