What is a Laser Safety Specialist? Is it the same than an LSO (Laser safety Officier)?

Thus, the Laser Safety Specialist (LSS) is the competent person, who may be an external consultant. In contrast, the Laser Safety Officer (LSO) is an employee of the company, and their duties do not necessarily include those of the competent person; rather, they rely on the LSO for support.
