Risk-hazard analysis of laser products and systems

The hazard analysis and risk assessment of laser products and systems is carried out by means of calculations in accordance with latest relevant standards from national and international technical commissions and standardisation organisations such as “Asociación Española de Normalización y Certificación” (AENOR), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) and the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). For each of your systems, we calculate the following parameters.

  • Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE)
  • Worker exposure (irradiance or radiant exposure)
  • Nominal Ocular Hazard distance (NOHD)

This parameters are especially important as they determine the selection of the appropriate safety products and laser protection eyewear to be used within your organisation.

Hazard analysis for laser and light emitting systems is required by Article 6 of the Spanish Royal Decree 486/2010 on the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to artificial optical radiation (laser and light emitting systems).
